Covid updates Sep 2020

Hey Ulysses Tribe

It is amazing to have the gym open for safe in person training again. The past few weeks of training in the gym has really made our staff  happy.

We have seen some great performances in there and everyone is smiling and training well.

It has been great to see the existing members train consistently again.

Also we feel great to welcome lots of fun happy new members too.

When it comes to the gym, we really want your visit to the gym to be happy and the highlight of your day.

With the PM’s recent announcement I wanted to reassure you that we have your safety and the safety of others as our priority.

Gyms and other business that can provide COVID Secure operations can continue to do so under the new 6 people social gathering rules.

This means we must continue our precautions to help stop the spread of the virus and to keep you safe.

We completed risk assessments pre-opening and having the space we do, having controlled class sizes and no open gym is working really well.

On a side note, small group classes were always our thing!

Also, as a gym we remind you of the following:

πŸ’₯ We shorten each class and miss out on stretching time most days so we can keep the 10 minute cleaning window πŸ’₯ Ventilation, we keep the doors open for fresh air and stagger people so we do not face each-other or blow particles onto others.Β  πŸ’₯ Issue you with a workout location and sometimes to safe zone so we all keep correct social distances. πŸ’₯Β Our coaches are trained on our risk assessments and SOPs, so they will look after you. We regularly review these and update our coaches. πŸ’₯ We are booking in everyone using TEAMUp as always for track and trace, should we need to pass on any information.

As a valued member please can you continue to do the following.
Before attending the gym:πŸ’₯ Please make sure you are not unwell. That means if you have a runny nose, fever or a cough (or any COVID-19 Symptoms) we ask that you stay away from the gym. πŸ’₯If you are self isolating then please do not attend the gym πŸ’₯ Make sure you reserve and book into class via Teamup before arriving.

Each class has a maximum number of participants as we’ve always had

When arriving at the gym:πŸ’₯ Please arrive in gym kit to make it easier to start training where possible or clean down any touched surfaces in the changing rooms.  πŸ’₯If you are early please do not congregate in a large group (we can’t have over 6 people in this situation), keep 2m social distancing. πŸ’₯ Wash or sanitise your hands on arrival. πŸ’₯ Maintain 2m from one another at all times. πŸ’₯ Bring your own towel to your class. πŸ’₯ Wipe down your equipment after use and dispose of the cloth in the yellow sad face bin.  πŸ’₯ We ask that you leave the gym as soon as the class has finished. πŸ’₯ All 5  toilets are open and we will keep them clean. πŸ’₯ The water fountain is available, please wipe it after use. πŸ’₯ We need to keep good ventilation in the gym so we will keep one or both of the big doors open. πŸ’₯ No touching high 5’s or fist pumps please. Distanced high 5s are cool and an extra well done and claps are always motivating

From the 14th of September government guidelines will limit social gatherings of up to 6 people. However “People can also continue to use leisure facilities, including gyms and pools – classes within these venues can continue as they are now. People should not go to these venues socially in groups of more than six.” (Sport England, September 2020) “That’s because these sports and activities have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of Covid-19, and because these venues are classed as Covid-secure given the measures they’ve introduced. The importance of sport and physical activity to people’s physical health and mental wellbeing has also been recognised by the government.” (Sport England, September 2020) We can have classes larger than 6 but this is to train in a class where the coach will look after you and keep COVID secure precautions in place. So as per Government advice we are basically offering a safe place for individuals to come and train in a safe manor, overseen by a coach to ensure we keep everyone safe.

I feel safe that we will look after you while at the gym.

It is part of our  vision that Ulysses will coninue to strive to be  the happiest and most humble place in Middlesbrough .

I do not want to damage that ever. Nor do I want to risk the safety of any one of you.

Keeping fit and healthy is just what we need right now, for us both physically and mentally.

The team are so pleased we can continue to help you during these tough times.

If we have to close the doors again for another lockdown then we can pivot  to something fun called the  QuaranTEAM Games Teams and other good parts of our online system

If you want to ask me any questions or contact me directly my number is 07850087178

I’m keen to help.

Looking forward to see you in class soon!
